On circa 540 hectares of agricultural land, crops are grown for the food chain. The highest possible efficiency is achieved by using the digestate from the bio-fermenter and an irrigation system powered by self-generated green power.
AgricultureFood recycling at its finest. At Kwaliflex, residual products from the food industry are collected, unpacked and processed. The unpacked products are used as resources for the production of pig feed, bio-fermentation and water purification.
KwaliflexThe bio-fermenter supplies green power to more than fifteen thousand households. This green power is generated from biogas using cogeneration motors. The biogas is produced by fermenting residual products from the food industry and pig manure. The resulting product (digestate) is used, among other things, at Landgoed De Princepeel as a soil improver.
BiogasIn the pig farm, pigs are raised in accordance with the highest standards for animal welfare. Among other things, the pigs are fed with high-grade residual streams from the food industry, including beer, breakfast cereals, sauces, etcetera. This results in high-quality, flavourful meat for consumers. The pigs’ manure is processed in the bio-fermenter.
Pig farmingLandgoed De Princepeel is an estate with a rich history that dates all the way back to the eleventh century. The Smits family acquired the estate in the mid-1980s.
